Dr. Geovana Basso Elevates Education to Fulfill Unmet Needs
At the turn of the century, peritoneal dialysis (PD) penetration in America was negligible. Dr. Geovana Basso, Head of Medical Affairs for the Americas region, was determined to change this.

We started designing a program to cover unmet needs in fellows' education [...]. We believed that through this initiative, we could help spread the knowledge and expertise needed to grow PD.

Over the past two decades, Vantive’s PD Fellowship Program has played an essential role in educating nephrology fellows across the US. This program offers high-level PD lectures and discussions, as well as opportunities for young nephrologists to undertake specialist placements in PD clinics under the mentorship of more experienced clinicians. Alongside this, Vantive has been the principal sponsor of the Home Dialysis University, which provides hybrid courses for healthcare professionals, including intensive hands-on training workshops and immersive online webinars.
The Impact?
Dr. Geovana Basso is proud that the PD Fellowship Program has engaged more than 1,000 fellows across 50 institutions, from the country’s most recognized academic centers to organizations with a more local reach. The Home Dialysis University, meanwhile, has run more than 100 workshops for nurses, physicians, and surgeons.
According to Dr. Geovana Basso, Vantive’s comprehensive resources have helped to address critical knowledge gaps in PD education, equipping current and future PD healthcare professionals with the expertise they need to provide outstanding care.

We believe in the power of education to transform care and spread knowledge that will elevate PD practices.
