Dr. Anjali Bhatt Saxena, MD is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine and the Director of Peritoneal Dialysis at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California. Dr. Saxena completed her BS degree at Duke University, and received her MD from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She completed both her Internal Medicine Residency and Postdoctoral Nephrology Fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Saxena is board certified in nephrology.
Dr. Saxena has served as Medical Director for a busy, independent Peritoneal Dialysis Clinic in San Jose, CA for the past 14 years with a current clinic census over 65 patients. Dr. Saxena is heavily involved in the international PD community and is the Treasurer for the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD), and the immediate Past President of the North American Chapter of the ISPD. She is an approved Educational Ambassador for the International Society of Nephrology (ISN), and has worked alongside Stanford colleagues to develop a sister-Renal Center program that provides services and training courses in Peritoneal Dialysis a low income area of Sri Lanka.
Dr. Saxena is a dedicated member of the faculty of the Stanford Nephrology Fellowship Program. She has published book chapters in key Nephrology texts as well as manuscripts on peritoneal dialysis and renal pathophysiology in various peer-reviewed journals. She is involved in teaching at many levels and has educated medical students, interns and residents as well as practicing Nephrologists. She has been a faculty member of the Home Dialysis University (HDU), formerly known as Peritoneal Dialysis University (PDU), since 2007 and has delivered numerous invited lectures and presentations at national meetings such as ASN-Kidney Week, the Annual Dialysis Conference, and ISPD conferences.
